Abyss is defined by crystalline formation within a dark glaze during high-temperature firing. Its form is characterized by a smooth, continuous outer curve, contrasted with an inner wall shaped by clearly defined changes in curvature.
This structured variation in the inner profile influences how heat and atmosphere move across the surface, allowing oil-spot structures to develop naturally within the interior.
These crystalline patterns are formed in the kiln, not applied or controlled afterward. Their density, distribution, and clarity vary with each firing, reflecting the interaction between material, form, and fire.
Each piece is individually fired, resulting in natural variation that makes every Abyss unique.
Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, with local clay and naturally iron-bearing mineral glaze.
