DewDaisy is a Cha-Mo (tea-dust type glaze) Jian Zhan formed through traditional dragon-kiln wood firing in Jianyang, Fujian. During firing, variations in flame path, ash interaction, and kiln atmosphere influence how iron crystals emerge and settle across the glaze surface.

Within the DewDaisy series, the formation of yellow-green crystalline structures over a deep pure-black glaze base is particularly difficult to achieve under traditional dragon-kiln wood firing. The interaction between iron-rich glaze, kiln atmosphere, flame movement, and temperature variation determines whether this distinctive crystalline structure can successfully emerge during firing.

Only a limited number of DewDaisy pieces were successfully produced with this glaze characteristic, and no further stable firings of the same effect have been achieved since. As a result, the existing DewDaisy works remain among the most limited tea-dust glaze pieces within The Phoenix Kiln collection.

This DewDaisy Gongfu tea cup developed a concentrated crystalline structure within the interior glaze, where dense iron crystallization gathers toward the center before gradually dispersing outward. The exterior retains a continuous crystalline distribution that follows the curvature of the vessel, creating a balanced transition between interior and exterior surfaces.

Its compact form and thick clay body give the piece a stable hand feel uncommon in smaller Jian Zhan cups. The exposed iron-rich clay foot and fully hand-trimmed base preserve the traditional material character of Jian ware.

Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, using local iron-rich clay and naturally iron-bearing mineral glaze.
