Naturally burial-aged after firing, this tea whisking bowl with stand is part of The Phoenix Kiln’s Song Re-creation Collection. The bowl and stand follow the functional structure of Jian ware used in Song dynasty whisked tea practice, forming a stable system that supports whisking while improving heat handling and grip.
The proportions are based on archaeological examples, with a wide mouth, controlled depth, and a raised support base. The stand elevates the bowl slightly, reducing heat transfer and improving handling. This structure reflects practical use and is also associated with more formal tea settings in Song dynasty practice.
The bowl is fully hand-thrown and hand-trimmed, with natural variation in form. The base bears an incised “Jin Zhan” (进盏) mark, historically associated with tribute ware.
Handmade in Shuiji Town, Jianyang, Fujian, using local iron-rich clay and natural mineral glaze, and fired in a traditional Skyward Dragon Kiln. Each piece reflects variation formed during firing and burial aging.
